Doctors at The University of Kansas Hospital estimate 10,000 people in the greater Kansas City metro area suffer Parkinson’s disease and the numbers are growing. The University of Kansas Hospital and the University of Kansas Medical Center’s Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center celebrates its re-certification as an NPF Center of Excellence.

The center first achieved certification back in the early 90’s and continues to be a leader nationally and globally in research and education as well as delivering treatments and therapies to Parkinson’s disease patients.  Only 26 Parkinson’s disease centers nationally and 15 worldwide have received this distinguished certification.

Professor and medical director of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Center, Rajesh Pahwa, M.D., explains the benefit to patients.
