More than 40 Americans die each day from prescription opioid overdoses according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.  Emergency room physician and Medical Director of the Poison Control Center at The University of Kansas Hospital Dr. Stephen Thornton says more people die of poisonings annually than car accidents and a majority of the poisonings are related to prescription pain killers.  Dr. Thornton talks about the epidemic, how the new guidelines will help and that are long overdue.
