Former President Jimmy Carter is now undergoing treatment for cancer that’s spread from his liver to his brain.

The physician-in-chief for The University of Kansas Cancer Center says the melanoma affecting Carter is treatable even though it was caught later than preferred by doctors. Dr. Terry Tsue (SUE-eh) says while melanoma patient numbers are increasing, individuals can take basic steps to find it early or prevent it from occurring.
