Dr. Scott Mullen, a sports medicine-trained orthopedic surgeon with the Sports Medicine and Performance Center at The University of Kansas Hospital, is also a runner. He’s been running for most of his life, in every kind of weather, and he says dedicated runners don’t let the cold weather slow them down.
Mullen has advice for cold weather running, including how to overcome the biggest obstacles, how to know when is it actually too cold to run, the most common injuries in cold weather running, the effect of cold weather running on the muscles and when it’s a good idea to see your doctor.
