At Kauffman Stadium Saturday night, you can watch a major league game, enjoy a hot dog, and save someone’s life.  The University of Kansas Health System is presenting Organ Donation Awareness Night at The K on Saturday, where you not only learn more about organ donation, but can sign up to be an organ donor.

Travis Abicht (Ay-Bickt), MD, is a heart transplant surgeon at The University of Kansas Health System. In the video, he says it’s extremely important to tell your family and friends of your decision to be a donor, regardless of whatever you’ve put in writing. He also says any place is a good place to sign up to be an organ donor.  Even after the game, the doctor says there are many places you can find a donor card to sign up. Dr. Abicht says he has seen emotional bonds develop between donor families and recipients, even when they have never met, because they all appreciate the precious gift of life.

Also included is organ transplant video.
