If you’ve strolled down the concourse at Kauffman Stadium, you may have seen one of the two First Aid Stations run by The University of Kansas Health System, and wondered what goes on behind those doors. Not many fans realize there are two fully equipped stations, one in the upper deck and one on the main level, that are staffed at every game by health professionals from The University of Kansas Health System. This will be the seventh year for the coverage.

In the video, Rick Blevins, nurse manager with the health system, describes the free services available to all fans and the most common kinds of medical problems the staff treats. He explains there is a doctor on duty to handle minor injuries, and arrangements with emergency medical services to transport patients with more significant injuries to the hospital. Blevins also talks about the multiple teams of health workers in red shirts who walk through the stands to be available on a moment’s notice to help a fan in need. The video also includes b-roll inside the aid station.
