Many people love the spring with its warmer temperatures and blooming flowers and leaves. But if you have allergies, it can be one of the most miserable times of the year. Right now, tree pollen is the culprit causing an overflow in allergists’ waiting rooms all over the area, including that of Dr. Marissa Love, an allergist/immunologist at The University of Kansas Health System.

In the video, Dr. Love talks about why spring is often a tough time for allergy sufferers, why allergies are different depending on the time of year and how doctors treat it, the increase in the number of over the counter medications for allergies and why patients need to make sure their doctor knows they’re taking them and what she thinks of a popular home remedy for cleansing pollen from the nose called a Neti pot. She also discusses treatments, symptoms and coping strategies for allergy sufferers.
