Kansas City, Kan- At the University of Kansas Cancer Center in Lee's Summit, nurses Ali Bertken, Shannon Bellamy, and Stephanie Swick transformed an infusion clinic into a music venue for patients Kevin Nibert and Chuck Gregg, both cancer survivors.
The musicians, who had performed for years, found renewed joy and strength through music, which also uplifted other patients and staff.
The initiative, supported by nurse practitioner Ali, has become a regular event, fostered a sense of community and improving morale. The segment also highlighted the broader role of nurses in providing emotional support and creating a welcoming environment for patients.
