Statistics show only about 25% of bladder cancer patients are women, but that number is growing according to urologist Jeffrey Holzbeierlein, MD (holes-ber-line). Karla Boatright, a non-smoker, thought she had a chronic urinary tract infection when she was diagnosed with cancer. She received a ‘new bladder’ created through an innovative surgery.
