The winter season in the Midwest has been colder than many in recent years, and we’re just reaching February…usually the coldest month of the year. But a doctor from the Program in Integrative Health at The University of Kansas Health System has some practical advice for coping with the extreme cold temperatures.

In the video, Dr. John Kim talks about foods that are helpful to eat and drink in cold weather. He discusses the value of movement BEFORE going out in the cold. He stresses the need for keeping hydrated when out in the cold…something most people only think is important in the heat of summer. He explains why running a humidifier at night during cold weather can help a lot, and talks about what existing medical conditions can be made worse by exposure to the extreme cold weather.
