The number of COVID-19 patients being treated at The University of Kansas Health System is 22 … same as yesterday with four patients in the ICU up one from yesterday. Two are on ventilators up from one yesterday. However, five recovering COVID-19 patients also remain on ventilators with the same 30 other patients from yesterday who are still hospitalized but out of the acute infection phase.
Today, Amanda Gartner, RN, Director of Quality of Safety joined to answer reporter and community questions. Gartner was recognized in pre-game coverage along with a nurse from Truman Medical Centers University Health as frontline workers who are also huge Chiefs fans. Gartner answered the first media question asking if fogging was worth the money to guard against COVID-19. Gartner and doctors agreed that normal cleaning practices should be sufficient to guard against COVID-19 and they would not make the investment in fogging if money is an issue. She encouraged folks to clean well and often.
