Friday Media Briefing on COVID-19 From The University of Kansas Health System

Regional media participated in a joint phone interview with doctors from The University of Kansas Health System. Dana Hawkins, MD, medical director of infection prevention and control and Steve Stites, MD, chief medical officer, gave an update on COVID-19 and the current risk. They also addressed the following:

  • The differences between isolating at home and quarantining at home
  • The reason for changes to the hospital visitor policy
  • Why elective surgeries are being delayed
  • How telemedicine is being ramped up for patient visits

The entire briefing and the reporter questions are in the video.

Monday, March 23, doctors will make themselves available for more questions and to update the current state of the virus and the risk. We’ll advise on Monday the time and who the participants will be.
