Good News for the Pittsburg, KS Family Injured in House Fire

The Pittsburg, Kansas family left homeless by a house fire got some really good news.  Both Collin’s boys, twenty-two-month-old Gehrett and three-year-old Leif are doing well and out of ICU.  “They have made a huge improvement,” Tawnya Bach Collins, mother said. “Both Gehrett and Leif moved across the hall to the pediatrics unit on Thursday, but will still need several more days to recover from the after effects of being sedated for five straight days.  James (husband and father) was released from the hospital on Wednesday, but still remains under the watch of the wonderful doctors in the burn unit here at The University of Kansas Hospital. I can’t thank the community enough for their prayers and generous donations.  We feel so blessed to be included in everyone heart’s during this trying time.”

The boys were playing on the pediatric unit when our cameras caught up with them.  Journalists may use the video for the follow-up stories.
