How to Have a Poison-Free Thanksgiving in the Kitchen

           As many of us start thinking about having a big Thanksgiving dinner with the family in a couple of weeks, it’s important to remember kitchen safety.  The Poison Control Center at The University of Kansas Hospital usually sees in increase calls during the holidays, especially at Thanksgiving. In the video, Stefanie Baines, Poison Control Educator, has a list of the do's and don'ts to keep your family safe.

Do

1) Wash your hands

2) Completely defrost your turkey

3) Know the temperature

4) Cook the stuffing separately

5) Store leftovers properly

Don't

1) Prepare food while sick

2) Defrost turkey at room temperature

3) Refreeze a thawed turkey

4) Stuff the turkey

5) Leave a cooked turkey out too long
