Is Aggressive Prostate Cancer on The Rise?

A new report shows in the last ten years, the number of men with metastatic prostate cancer, meaning it’s spread beyond the prostate, has increased dramatically. Dr. Jeff Holzbeirlein is interim chair of urology at The University of Kansas Hospital, and he agrees there’s been an increase, but isn’t sure why. In the video, he addresses the increase and possible reasons why. He also addresses the stereotypical male reluctance to get a prostate screening and the one group that is most reluctant to go. He talks about the newest options to cure early prostate cancer and how long someone with metastatic prostate cancer can live with a good quality of life. And he says new screening guidelines may be coming.
