Kansas Governor Laura Kelly paid a visit to the Great Bend Campus of The University of Kansas Health System today. Governor Kelly’s visit is part of a statewide tour of healthcare facilities and communities. Her focus is on Medicaid expansion and recent developments at the federal level around the program which would result in increased funding to the State of Kansas should the State of Kansas choose to expand.
The governor’s hospital tour included Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, the Mother/Baby Unit and the Emergency Department. She also held a news conference after her tour. Because of COVID restrictions, members of the media were not allowed on the tour itself, but were able to safely gather afterward to ask questions of the governor. A health system pool camera accompanied the governor on her tour and covered the news conference.
