The University of Kansas Health System is treating a total of 54 COVID patients today, up from 53 yesterday. Other significant numbers:
- 32 with the active virus today, 33 yesterday
- 4 in ICU, 3 yesterday
- 2 on ventilators, 2 yesterday
- 22 hospitalized but out of acute infection phase, 20 yesterday

- The majority of hospitalized COVID patients are not vaccinated or not up to date with their boosters
- New variant identified as B F 7. Too soon to know if it will be different from other variants.
- Moderna is shipping more bivalent vaccines, but no need to wait if the Pfizer version is available. Mixing vaccines for booster shots is OK.
- If you’ve had your primary series of COVID shots but have not had a booster, it’s OK to go straight to the new bivalent vaccine
