The University of Kansas Health System is treating a total of 46 COVID patients today, down from 53 Friday. Other significant numbers:
- 25 with the active virus today, 29 Friday
- 4 in ICU, 5 Friday
- 2 on ventilators, 3 Friday
- 21 hospitalized but out of acute infection phase, 24 yesterday

- Diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2011
- One of rarest and most aggressive breast cancers, affecting Black women 2.7 times more than White women
- Chemotherapy and immunotherapy made cancer disappear for a time, but it came back and spread through her body
- Is now participating in a clinical trial through The University of Kansas Cancer Center
- Hopes not only to cure her cancer, but by participating in the trial, to help others

- Described clinical trial in which Cynthia is participating. It’s testing a medication that shuts down the signal to the cancer cell that it’s receiving to grow and divide.
- Explained triple negative breast cancer, and said there are at least four biologically distinct subtypes of the disease
- Says genetic testing is now recommended for all patients with triple negative breast cancer and explained why
- Women who exercise an average of five hours a week will significantly cut their risk of recurrence of their breast cancer
- Certain types of diets can also reduce recurrence of breast cancer by reducing blood sugar levels and reducing insulin and other inflammatory markers
