New Blood Pressure Guidelines Effects on Women

Are the new blood pressure guidelines saving lives?  Cardiologists at The University of Kansas Health System say “Yes!” Dr. Ashley Simmons says lowering the definition of good blood pressure is encouraging lifesaving interventions more quickly.  Dr. Simmons says those who have been moved outside the acceptable range due to the changes can begin making lifestyle changes earlier, thereby avoiding or delaying using medication.  The guidelines also mean increased awareness for women, especially after giving birth. In the video Dr. Simmons outlines what the changes mean and how they affect your life.
