Playoff Fever Hits Hospital Construction Site

Workers from J.E. Dunn Construction are spending a lot of time on the job these days, building the Cambridge North Tower addition to The University of Kansas Hospital. But during their morning break today, they stopped to hang a huge banner on the site that reads “The University of Kansas Hospital and The Kansas City Royals: A Winning Combination.” Then they broke out the balls and gloves and played catch, right on the construction site. It definitely caught the eyes of passersby on the street, and brought smiles to the faces of patients and staff members inside the nine-story Center for Advanced Heart Care across the street. That’s what the workers were hoping for.

In the video, Rick VanTuyl, senior superintendent for J.E. Dunn, and Shelly Koehler, Vice President for J.E. Dunn, talk about why the workers decided to do this. Also in the video is Stacy Smith, a nurse manager at the hospital, who got a smile on her face after reading the banner and watching the workers play catch. Also, Rhonda Spearman, a unit secretary, expresses the hopes of Royals fans everywhere!
