Flu Season Starting To Take Off In Midwest

Doctors at The University of Kansas Hospital say the 2017 flu season has been “surprisingly quiet,” but is now starting to take off. Nearly 2,000 people across the country have been hospitalized with the flu, and three children have died according to the Centers for Disease Control. They and other doctors around the country are just now starting to see a spike in the number of patients with the flu...including in Kansas and Missouri.

Dr. Lee Norman is chief medical officer at The University of Kansas Hospital. In the video, he describes the flu season to this point and what we are now seeing. He also talks about whether this year’s vaccine will have what it takes to fight the flu and why getting a flu shot, even now, is still a good idea.
