University Of Kansas Hospital Prepared For Infectious Diseases

A team from the Centers For Disease Control in Atlanta and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment recently toured The University of Kansas Hospital. They were looking to see how well the hospital is prepared to handle patients with infectious diseases. The KDHE has designated the hospital as a Center of Excellence for Infectious Disease Preparedness.

Charlie Hunt is the epidemiologist for the State of Kansas, and one of the inspection team members. In the video, he talks about why it’s necessary to have healthcare facilities around the state prepared, what the different kinds of infectious diseases are, and how the top goal is patient, staff and public protection.
