What To Expect At Your Child's Back To School Physical

As children go back to school, many parents bring them to the pediatrician for their annual physical exam. There’s a lot more involved that just opening wide and saying “Ahhhhhh.”

Dr. Steve Lauer, a pediatrician at The University of Kansas Hospital, offers advice for parents and explains what doctors look for in back to school physicals. He also explains why concussion testing is becoming more common, why vaccinations, especially for HPV, are so important, what he says to parents who are unsure about vaccinations and the special needs of adolescents.

Also included in the video is a four year old girl receiving her back to school vaccinations and video of an older child receiving the HPV vaccine.
